  • Pilot projects in Chhattisgarh
  • Abhilash hatcheries piloted a project in Sukna district of Chhattisgarh with the help of veterinary Department to distribute micro unit of color birds in back ward tribal area.

  • Sponsorship and schemes
    • Rural Backyard Poultry Development; A centrally sponsored scheme, is one of the components of Poultry development schemes carried out by Central Government, India. The exclusive beneficiaries for this scheme are from Below Poverty Line. This is one of the initiatives the Govt. has taken to mainly enable them to gain subsidiary income and nutritional support for livelihood.
    • National Rural Livelihood Mission is a flagship programme of MoRD, Gov. of India towards the reduction of rural poverty across the nation. The fund for the implementation of the program is shared between the Centre and the State in the ratio of 60:40. The mission identifies the fact that poverty is a result of the lack of resources and hence tries to build institutional support structure to induce social mobilization which will bring out the innate capabilities of the rural people.
    • The government of Chattisgarh is implementing the mission in the state since May, 2012 through Chattisgarh State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) in a phase wise manner. The scheme is trying to improve the wellbeing of the disadvantaged communities through (i) the process of universal social mobilization, (ii) Financial Inclusion, (iii) Livelihood Promotion and (iv) Skill Development.
    • Livelihood Support: Income Generation Activities (IGAs): The Support has encouraged the underprivileged communities to adopt a second crop, and indulge in various off-farm income generation activities (IGAs) like Pigeon Pea, Chick-pea, Arhar cultivation, Backyard poultry, and piggery, goat-rearing, Lac- rearing etc.
  • Identification of beneficiaries
    • The vulnerable group will be benefited with sustainable employment and expected income addition will be around 1000/- per household for 50 birds.
    • Farmers will be empowered in institutional development and scientific management of birds.
    • Increase in egg production.
    • Genetically improved breeds of birds will increase in the area.
    • Village women can earn extra income by adopting this activity in their free time, which is more profitable and less time consuming.
    • Living standard of the family will be raised
    • Women doing labor need not go outside the house to earn extra money
    • This activity provides an excellent opportunity for women, who are socially oppressed, illiterate and are unaware of their rights.
